Objectives

 

 

Future road traffic requires driver assistance- and traffic management systems , which

 

            - improve traffic safety for all participants,
            - decrease the driver load and efficiently guide him to his destination,
            - avoid traffic jams and better utilize the existing road capacity,
            - make economic and ecological sense and have a sound legal basis,
            - are accepted by the society and the user

 

Within the research initiative Aktiv the project Aktiv-AS (Active Safety) deals with the development of driver assistance systems with a main focus on safety relevant applications. Within the project Aktiv-VM (Traffic Management) technologies are developed, which will contribute to improve the performance of the road network. The project CoCar aims at the development of cellular mobile communication technologies for cooperative vehicle applications (C2C and C2I).

 

All projects together will reveal, how intelligent vehicles and efficient traffic management systems will interact in the future. The alliance of research and development combined with practical tests in Aktiv will significantly help to ensure our mobility and is of importance to maintain the german competitive capability.
